 High School Student Program

The High School Student Program is an excellent opportunity for students to explore the health care field and gain valuable life skills. The minimum age required is 15 years.

Students are welcome to apply during one of our recruitment periods. For summer placements, applications can be submitted from March 1st to April 30th. For fall and winter placements, applications can be submitted from July 15th to September 15th. Applications must be submitted online and will only be processed during our recruitment periods.

Applicants should be available for one 2 to 4 hour shift on a regular weekly basis for a minimum of 60 hours. A greater weekly commitment will be required for the summer program. Documentation of hours will not be provided until this commitment has been fulfilled.

Those selected for an interview will be contacted via email. Please check your junk mail and spam folders for our correspondence.

Please keep in mind that the high school program is highly competitive. While we strive to accept as many applicants as possible, there are a limited number of positions. Regretfully, not everyone who submits an application will be contacted for an interview. If you do not hear from us, we invite you to reapply during the next recruitment period.

To become a Trillium Health Partners volunteer you must:

  • Be 15 years of age or older
  • Submit an online application
  • Attend an interview

Upon acceptance as a volunteer you will be required to:

  • Attend an orientation
  • Submit two reference forms
  • Completed the Health Surveillance Clearance Form
  • Attend training sessions related to your volunteer placement

Since many positions involve contact with people (staff, visitors and patients), excellent customer service and communication skills are required. Initiative, compassion and professionalism are also valuable assets.
