 Allied Health Professionals and Learners - Observership

Allied health professionals and learners currently enrolled in a clinical or undergraduate program leading to a health professions designation may be granted observer status for the purpose of observing a clinician’s practice. An observer is not involved with direct patient interaction, has no clinical status at Trillium Health Partners and must have a clearly designated member of the active medical or professional staff acting as their sponsor.

  • The observer must have organized the experience directly with an appropriate Trillium Health Partners physician/staff supervisor in their program of interest.
  • Must be registered in good standing with an accredited institution (if the observer is a learner).
  • Once the request has been confirmed by the physician/staff supervisor and approved by the Program Leadership, the observer will be required to:
    • Provide a letter of good standing from the accredited Canadian institution in which the learner is enrolled or proof of professional licencing;
    • Sign an Oath of Confidentiality;
    • Complete a Request for Observer form;
    • Final confirmation from the hospital program of available capacity.

All requirements must be met prior to arrival.

Although observers must organize their experience directly with a hospital sponsor, any inquiries from allied health professionals and learners currently enrolled in a clinical or undergraduate program leading to a health professions designation should be made to the Education Office.
