Diagnostic Imaging

To Our Diagnostic Imaging Patients and Providers:

Update as of July 2020:

Since June 29th, we have been gradually increasing outpatient capacity at our Mississauga Hospital and Credit Valley Hospital sites. Services will not be increasing at the Queensway Health Centre at the present time. Our focus for this stage will be on time-sensitive examinations.

For patients:

Trillium Health Partners’ Diagnostic Imaging program has put in place measures to ensure patients and staff are safe throughout their appointment. This includes the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and practicing physical distancing:

  • Upon entering the hospital, you will be asked to wear a mask - this will be provided to you.
  • Please arrive on time - no earlier than 15 minutes prior to your arrival time.

Note: Your arrival time is not the same time as your appointment time, as it includes time to register and prepare you for the appointment.

  • If you are more than 10 minutes late from your arrival time, we may not be able to perform your study.
  • If you are running late, please call the department to see if we can still accommodate you.
  • Please sit in designated chairs only. Chairs have been blocked in our waiting areas to ensure physical distancing.
  • You should expect to be in Diagnostic Imaging for at least 1-3 hours.

If you are ill with symptoms of COVID-19, have had a COVID test because of symptoms and are waiting for the results, or are under a quarantine order, please contact us prior to your scheduled appointment so that we can adequately prepare as we may need to take additional precautions when caring for you.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact your referring healthcare provider. This includes requests to move up appointments, which need to be submitted in writing by the referring provider. Thank you for your understanding during this time.

For referring physicians:

New Ultrasound Intake Process

Triage guidelines have been established and all imaging requests will be reviewed and triaged prior to booking. We are asking physicians to provide an adequate clinical history on requisitions and to please fax all ultrasound requisitions to our department prior to booking at (905) 813-4418 (Credit Valley Hospital) or (416) 521-4014 (Mississauga Hospital or Queensway Health Centre). We will contact patients with an appointment date and time.

COVID-19 Pandemic Request to Expedite Booked Appointments

If you have clinical concerns about the timing of a patient’s booked appointment, you can use the COVID-19 Pandemic Request to Expedite Diagnostic Imaging Examination request form. Please provide specific clinical details that indicate why the study should be performed sooner, even if previous discussions have occurred. All requests will be reviewed by a radiologist using our triage guidelines and a determination will be made regarding timing based on that assessment.

Physicians may wish to consider referring patients to independent health facilities or clinics as alternatives for non-sensitive examinations.
