Our Regional Partners

First Nations, Inuit, Métis and Urban Indigenous Cancer Strategy

The Regional Cancer Program (RCP) oversees the delivery and quality of cancer services for over two million people in Peel, Halton, and Etobicoke. We respond to local cancer issues and organize care across health care teams in our community.

Our goal is to deliver fair and timely person-centred care that addresses the physical, mental, and social needs of our patients and their loved ones. We are working together with partners to lower wait times and continuously ensure the highest quality of care. These goals will continue to be our focus as we recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our focus on person-centred care involves an approach that gives patients a voice in the design and delivery of the care they receive and enables them to be more active in their experience. Person-centred care provides care that is respectful of and responsive to individual patient preferences, needs, and values.

We are guided by our Strategic Plan, which represents steps in an ongoing journey that will result in better care, more positive experiences, and a system that supports all people impacted by cancer. Our Strategic Plan emphasizes the importance of involving the entire care team in the vision for the future – partner organizations, health care providers, volunteers, caregivers, and people impacted by cancer. Since 2005, multi-year provincial cancer plans have led to improvements in the quality and performance of Ontario’s cancer system. Our Strategic Plan aligns with the Ontario Cancer Plan 5 2019–2023 (OCP 5), which provides a road map for how Ontario Health (Cancer Care Ontario), the province’s Regional Cancer Programs, health system partners, and, in time, Ontario Health, will work together to reduce Ontarians’ risk of developing cancer and improve outcomes for those affected by cancer. The Regional Cancer Program, in alignment with OCP 5 and other regional-specific Strategic Plans, is committed to improving cancer care in our region.
