Cardiac Amyloid Scan Test (PYP Amyloid Scan)

The purpose of this test

• Assess your heart muscle for abnormal amyloid deposits using a radioactive tracer and a gamma camera.

How to Prepare for Your Test

• No preparation is needed.
• You can eat, drink, and take medications as usual.
• Wear comfortable clothes with no metal around the chest, such as jewelry or zippers.

What to Expect During the Test

• This test takes approximately 4 hours to complete.
• There are 3 parts to the test with breaks between each part.
