Trillium Health Partners offers Hemodialysis treatment at several locations to help serve you closer to home. We have hemodialysis treatment available at both our Credit Valley Hospital and our Mississauga sites and also offer services off-site, at our Renal Care Centre.
Hemodialysis is used to treat chronic kidney disease when your kidneys no longer work well enough to remove waste and fluids from your body to keep it healthy. The dialysis machine and a special filter called an artificial kidney, or dialyzer, are used to clean your blood.
Hemodialysis at Credit Valley Hospital
Our Credit Valley Hospital site is a combined in-patient and out-patient dialysis centre offering 56 chronic treatment stations and the capacity to provide hemodialysis for 336 patients. The unit is divided into three Care Centres, each with a central nursing station so that you will always be within sight of a nurse while you are having your dialysis treatment.
A separate room is available to provide privacy for special medical procedures. Isolation rooms are also available when indicated to help control the risk of infections.
This unit also provides hemodialysis for acutely ill in-patients in other areas of the hospital, such as Critical Care and Emergency.
Hemodialysis at Mississauga Hospital
Credit Valley Hospital is our main hemodialysis site. If you are admitted to the Mississauga Hospital and are unable to be safely transported to Credit Valley Hospital you will receive treatments on-site.
We have a team of nursing staff and biomedical technologists on-call from the Credit Valley Hospital site to come to Mississauga Hospital to provide hemodialysis treatment to you using hemodialysis equipment that is housed at Mississauga Hospital.
Renal Care Centre
The Renal Care Centre offers an alternative environment to a hospital setting for hemodialysis patients. This unit has 24 dialysis chairs and has the capacity to provide care for 144 patients.
